This is amazing! I can’t wait to read your memoir.

I was on Vyvanse and hyperfixated about Flamenco and music from Mauritania.

About once a year, for a short 24 hour period, I get really into System of a Down. No medication responsible, I just really crave the sound of Chop Suey! in my ear on a loop.

I take Wellbutrin for that same ADHD flavor and.. some days it works and some days I still do everything but my job. Overall find it useful?

I never really cared about apples or yellow bell peppers, but when I first started taking antidepressants, that's all I wanted to eat sooooo.... Might still have been the Wellbutrin 😉

Rumbadiboooo da rumbadida...excellent post! As far as bands go to hyperfixate on, at least it wasn't Morrissey. Took me back to the Korn rabbithole I once fell down too!

If you haven't listened to their album Untouchables yet, it's really underrated. More of a full and mature sound. And seeing them on tour when I was 14, and they had this curtain around the stage that they projected a bunch of visuals onto before the first song played and then it dropped to the floor as soon Jonathan started singing. Still gives me chills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-RtaPB7PvE

This was so fun to read. I went to a korn show in 2008 and korn fans have some of the best energy

This is incredible and well worth the wait. I've been a Linkin Park fan since 2001 and their album Minutes to Midnight was an instant fave when I first heard it in 2007, but it has aged remarkably well. You know how if you're too ahead of the pack you end up getting praise only retroactively. Well, the album was a follow-up to their sophomore album, Meteora, but it wasn't more of the same so it was divisive at the time. If you've never heard, I'd give it a listen. And if you did but didn't love it, I'd give it another try. There's a lot of grief and longing in their music, but also a lot of hope.

feeling seen reading this bc last week all i listened to was a handful of the same kittie songs on repeat and i PAID FOR an unwritten law ringtone.

and fuck, it really is viscerally uncomfortable asking for help. wishing for you to experience some relief, in solidarity.

I love this it reminds me of the time I got heavily into slipknot and icp in high school 😭 i wasn’t on meds but I didn’t have a job so that’s probably why. this makes me feel less crazy about it still though 😭 you describe it so well
